TITLE: "CHRIST DENIED"
DESCRIPTION: Luke 22:60-62
“Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster
crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then
Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said
to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three
times.”
At the moment Peter realized he had denied Christ three times as
had been prophesied, I can only imagine his excruciatingly painful
regret in the deepest part of his soul. Everything in the world
around him must have vanished from his sight, except for the
blackness of the sin he had committed and the utter devastation
of realizing his denial.
In this portrait of the crowing rooster, the surrounding black void
represents the emptiness Peter may have felt and the blackness
of sin that exists without Christ.
